Endemic Ensemble: Lunar Recon

Lunar Recon is a jazz EP containing three alternate takes from the Endemic Ensemble's 2012 album, Lunar, which made Lucid Culture's The 20 Best Jazz Albums of 2012. Lunar Recon's version of "Lilu" has exciting solos from horn players Travis Ranney and Matso Limtiaco and a great transition from the piano solo to the tenor sax solo. Composer David Franklin states that this version is the most Lilu-like (Lilu is a cat). Lunar Recon's version of "Return of the Pelicans" begins the solos with the piano, which starts the swing beat sooner in the solo section, and ends with a percussive bass solo from Steve Messick. Lunar Recon's version of "More Than Anything" brings fabulous solos from Matso Limtiaco on bari sax and Ken French on drums.
