Endemic Ensemble: Tangled

In 2016, Seattle quintet, Endemic Ensemble, recorded and released Tangled, their second full-length album of original modern mainstream jazz. Tangled is fifty-eight minutes long, featuring Seattle musicians Steve Messick, Travis Ranney, Matso Limtiaco, David Franklin, and Christian Krehbiel. The Endemic Ensemble's composers, Messick, Franklin, and Limtiaco, each wrote three of the nine songs on the album.

Tangled, is packed to the brim with luminous melodies, splendid charts and engaging solos by all hands. (Endemic Ensemble: Tangled, Jack Bowers, All About Jazz)

...here is a wonderful recording full of creative compositions and musicians who work together like a well-oiled machine. (Outstanding Pianists, A Gutsy Guitarist, Bass Band Leaders & Epic Ensembles, Dee Dee McNeil, Musicalmemoirs's Blog)

What this band best represents (for this listener, anyway) is the POWER that jazz can project, in all it's forms (Issue #167 reviews, Dick Metcalf, Improvijazzation Nation)

...their original hard bop is groovy and contagious (Dave Rogers, WTJU)

What recommends Endemic Ensemble's latest version is its non-stop musical hype through a bursting array of sonic colors and styles — pleasant and exciting enough to capture the hearts of both the jazz and non-jazz fans. (Carol Banks Weber, AXS)
