Tangled is the Endemic Ensemble's second full-length album. It is fifty-eight minutes long featuring nine songs of original music in styles ranging from post-bop to soul-jazz to bossa nova. The Endemic Ensemble's composers, Steve Messick, David Franklin (piano), and Matso Limtiaco (baritone saxophone and bass clarinet), each wrote three of the nine songs on the album, and they are joined by Travis Ranney (tenor and soprano saxophones) and Christian Krehbiel (drums).

Lunar is the Endemic Ensemble's debut album containing eleven tracks of contemporary jazz written by band members Steve Messick, David Franklin, and Matso Limtiaco. The music focuses on accessible melodies over hard-bop changes with inspiration from twentieth century classical music and horn backgrounds reminiscent of Joe Henderson and Art Blakey. Lunar features Travis Ranney on soprano, alto, and tenor saxes, Matso Limtiaco on baritone sax and bass clarinet, David Franklin on piano, Steve Messick on double bass, and Ken French on drums. Lunar was released in March 2012 through Pony Boy Records and was included in Lucid Culture's "The 20 Best Jazz Albums of 2012".

Steve Messick

Bassist and composer Steve Messick performs in Seattle, Washington. He is the owner of Opus Funkus Music, the founder and band leader of the Endemic Ensemble, and the coprincipal bassist for Orchestra Seattle / Seattle Chamber Singers (OSSCS). Messick also performs with other Seattle orchestras, big bands, and small ensembles.
